What is a denture?
A denture is used to replace one or more missing teeth on a removable plate. There are serveral types:

Plastic (acrylic) partial

A plastic partial denture fits on the gum and sometimes has wire clasps to hold it in place.

Metal (cobalt-chrome) partial
-
A metal precision partial denture fits exactly with clasps and rests on existing teeth.

Complete denture

These are to replace all the teeth on either the upper/lower or both jaws. They are held in with suction, and made from plastic.
Is a denture right for me?
Dentures are a a suitable short-medium term option to replace missing teeth. There are other options to replace missing teeth which include:

Implants - metal screws that go into the jaw bone, and can be used to replace one tooth, or under a complete denture to hold it in position, Treatment can take between 3-12 months to complete.

Bridges - an artificial tooth supported by the teeth on either side.
